Here are three great Android apps to end the week. BitTorrent released their official Torrent app so now you can download and upload torrents directly from your smartphone or tablet. Bombshells: Hells Belles is a fun aerial combat action game with some sharp graphics, plenty of planes to fly and a multiplayer component, too. Finally, weve got Total War Battles: Shogun, an award-winning real-time strategy game from SEGA.
Torrent Beta (Free)
Whats it about? The popular desktop peer-to-peer filesharing client from BitTorrent now has an official Android app.
Whats cool? Torrent on Android works just like its Mac/PC counterpart. Its easy to search and find torrent files, subscribe to RSS feeds, play content youve downloaded and more. Torrent is powerful, easy-to-use and fast but as its a beta, the developers are looking for feedback.
Who is it for? Fans of file-sharing are going to enjoy the opportunity to be able to download torrents on their smartphones. Word of caution: while using BitTorrent clients and peer-to-peer networks isnt illegal by any means, it goes without saying that you need to be careful about what you download/upload!
Whats it like? BitTorrent released its Torrent Remote app a while back, but that ones for keeping track remotely of the torrents your downloading elsewhere. BitTorrent also has its BitTorrent Beta app and there are popular alternatives like tTorrent Lite and aTorrent.
Bombshells: Hells Belles (Free)
Whats it about? This new game from Glu Mobile features loads of fast-paced aerial combat with speedy planes and sexy pilots.
Whats cool? Youll plunge straight into the action with cool environments, tricky enemies and plenty of outlandish weapons. There are over 200 awesome planes, cannons, and missile launchers to try out so you can fine-tune your arsenal to dominate the skies. Even better, you can battle your friends online in the multiplayer Arena Deathmatch mode.
Whos it for? Bombshells should appeal to both fans of fast-paced arcade games in general and other plane-based shooters like AirAttack HD Lite and MiniSquadron!
Whats it like? Bombshells is a bit like other 3-D aerial combat and dogfighting games like Sky Gamblers: Rise of Glory or Skies of Glory but with more of a fun, cartoony vibe.
Total War Battles ($4.99)
Whats it about? Total War Battles: Shogun from SEGA is a real-time strategy game which recently won the prestigious Golden Cube at the Unity awards in Amsterdam.
Whats cool? Total War Battles delivers quick-fire, tactical combat balanced with intuitive building and unit management, all set in a beautifully illustrated medieval Japan. According to the developers, it offers a 10-hour single player campaign, but it also includes one-on-one local multiplayer (on a single device) and a skirmish mode where you can play through six standalone battles.
Whos it for? For hardcore strategy gamers, Total War Battles offers deep, intense gameplay which is ultimately rewarding. But even casual strategy fans should appreciate its scalable difficulty levels and hint system.
Whats it like? Other top-notch real-time strategy games exist, but lack some of the polish and high production value of Total War Battles. These include Modern Conflict, Legendary Heroes (which does look pretty amazing) and the Age of Conquest titles.
