New Android apps worth downloading: Bloomberg Radio+, Twitter update, Rail Rush

Here are three great Android apps to enjoy. Bloomberg Radio+ is a 24/7 live station offering in-depth finance and investment news and analysis. Twitters new version 3.4 update offers a number of refinements and enhancements to improve the original Android social networking app. Last but not least is Rail Rush, an action-packed endless runner set in a mine and full of Indiana Jones moments.

Bloomberg Radio+ (Free)

Whats it about? Bloomberg Radio+ offers interviews and analysis from influential people in finance, business, economics and investment.

Whats cool? Bloomberg Radio+ offers streaming business and economics news 24/7, as well as many archived shows available on-demand. It offers the latest market data with a customized scrolling ticker, bios of guest, and offline listening.

Who is it for? One of Manhattans most popular radio stations is perfect for those looking for deep insight and in-depth coverage on financial issues. Its pedigree is strong, with former guests including Bill Clinton, George Soros and Christine LaGarde. It makes for a great accompaniment to the financial news app (for smartphones and tablets).

Whats it like? Other financial news apps are available like Financial Times and Yahoo! Finance, but there are fewer dedicated radio apps though shows from NPR or podcasts via Stitcher are worthy alternatives.

Twitter update (Free)

Whats it about? Now up to version 3.4, the latest Twitter update to the official app offers some interesting cosmetic and functional changes.

Whats cool? There are new profiles with header photos, plus photo streams on profiles and events. You can now pinch-to-zoom on images, and search suggestions are offered for people, topics and hashtags. On the security side of things, Twitter has improved protected account management and you now have the ability to accept or deny follower requests.

Who is it for? Everyone? Well, Twitter addicts should welcome some of these changes, though the official app continues to polarize the Android app community with some people loving it and some people hating it.

Whats it like? Fortunately there are plenty of other Twitter apps out there if the official offering still doesnt work out for you, but its worth noting that the company is likely to clamp down further on third-party apps.

Rail Rush (Free)

Whats it about? Heres a great on-rails endless runner which uses the familiar behind the player Temple Run perspective.

Whats cool? The action is set in a mine, and youll accelerate faster and faster avoiding obstacles as you go. Youll collect precious stones like gold nuggets and gems and perhaps unlock some special gifts. There are six exciting environments to zoom through featuring caverns, waterfalls, spiders nests, dead cities and mushroom halls, as well as a surprise or two along the way.

Who is it for? Miniclip.com usually produce good quality games, and Rail Rush is no exception. For a free game, theres plenty to enjoy here so fans of quick-paced endless runners should enjoy whats on offer. However, items in the in-app store are pretty pricey.

Whats it like? As we mentioned, it takes some inspiration from Temple Run, but its gaming dynamic is more akin to Agent Rush.
