August can be one of the best times to travel, as you want to soak up the last long days of summer. Whether youre traveling alone, with the kids or with your friends, there are plenty of Android apps to help you make the most of August travel. Save money on gas, get the necessary weather reports during hurricane season and find the best local deals.

High summer gas prices can potentially bust your budget. However, you can save more than a few pennies if you plan your trip accordingly, leveraging Gas Buddy to find the cheapest fuel in nearest you. Spanning the U.S. and Canada, Gas Buddy is a crowd-sourced gas pricing tool that marks the cheapest prices across regular, midgrade, premium and diesel fuel. Help out other travelers by reporting gas prices at various location and youll be automatically entered for the weekly Gas Buddy giveaway.

One of the best apps for campers, AllStays Camp and RV - Campgrounds Plus is a must-have for roadies traveling this summer. Search for the best camp and RV sites across the nation, with map views to plot your road trip. You can filter the map by camp type, sorting through the amenities and services. You also get photos and reviews for national and state parks, along with contact information, directions, rate ranges, hookups and other pertinent information.
